Fishing in Split
Planning to fish in Split? Dalmatia's largest city is wrapped around the rocky Marjan peninsula, and across the water lie the islands of Brač, Šolta, and Čiovo, separated by deep channels. You can fish from shore and from a boat, and the nearby Cetina river is a draw as well. Common catches here include gilt-head sea bream, European sea bass, and common octopus.
The rocky shore of the Marjan peninsula right in the city is accessible on foot and good for shore fishing, while the Split and Brač channels are good for spinning from a boat. Early morning and dusk are best.
What permit do you need for Split?
An official sea fishing license is required by law for recreational sea fishing in Croatia. You choose how long it stays valid (1 day, 3 days, 7 days, or the 150-day seasonal license), fill in your details, and we email you the official PDF license. We save you the paperwork and the back-and-forth with the Croatian authorities. The license is national, so it is valid along the entire coast of the Croatian Adriatic (special local rules apply in protected areas).
